Successful IO-Link Members Asssembly

On May 14th 2014, the annual members' meeting of the IO-Link Community took place in Frankfurt, Germany. 50 attendees listened attentively to the latest developments and successes of IO-Link. Working Group leaders and various guest speakers reported on their activities, including highlights and successes in 2013 and what’s happening in 2014. A special highlight for the Marketing Working Group was the first User Workshops, which were overbooked in no time. Frank Moritz, Quality Working Group leader, reports on the Interop Workshop held last DecemberFrank Moritz, Test and Quality Working Group leader (pictured right), reported on the Interoperability Workshop held last December. The workshop attracted more than 40 participants and was of special importance to the Quality team as it confirmed IO-Link devices are "really working". An update on IO-Link profiles and an overview of the IODD (IO-Link Device descriptions) Guidelines were also provided. A new Working Group for IO-Link Safety has been founded, with results expected in 2 to 3 years.

Especially impressive were the results of the most recent Quest study, which predict that the use of IO-Link in the machine building industry will rise from 13% to 47% by 2016. Remarkable also is the new competence matrix on the IO-Link web site. Not only does it provide a quick overview of the companies involved and their solutions – it is also a real eye catcher.
