Changing of the guard for IO-Link

New speaker of the IO-Link Committee

Joachim Lorenz of Siemens, who served as leader of the IO-Link Steering Committee for many years, will retire at the end of May 2016. Lorenz was involved since the start of IO-Link, has promoted the technology from the outset, and played a key role in establishing the IO-Link community. Under his leadership, IO-Link was implemented into a standard and is now established in the market. All members cordially thank him for his outstanding work and dedication.

Reinhard Schlagenhaufer of Siemens was elected as the next Leader of the IO-Link Steering Committee. Schlagenhaufer is not a stranger to the IO-Link community. He developed initial ideas and concepts for the technology in 2001 and 2002. Since then he has been a close associate and has worked intensively on widespread dissemination of the simple point-to-point architecture.

Steering Committee members elected Schlagenhaufer as Speaker at a February 17, 2016 Steering Committee session. On February 26, 2016, Schlagenhaufer was additionally elected as Head of the IO-Link Committee of PI (PROFIBUS & PROFINET International). He is thus now also a member of the Advisory Board of PI.
