IO-Link Overview
An IO-Link system consists of IO-Link devices, generally sensors, actuators or a combination, a standard 3-conductor sensor/actuator cable, and an IO-Link Master. The Master as a device may have any desired construction and enclosure rating. The system architecture can look as follows:

An IO-Link Master may have one or more ports. Only one IO-Link device can be connected to a single port. This makes IO-Link a point-to-point system and not a field bus.
